Obituary of Vivian Dorothy Grayhurst

(nee Paulson)

1933 - 2010

Our mum, sister, aunt, grandma and friend Viv passed away peacefully at "The Pines" in Kimberley after a 12 year battle with Alzheimer disease on Tuesday, April 20, 2010.

Vivian was born in a dirt floored, log cabin on the family homestead in B.C.'s Peace Country (Rolla, British Columbia) on October 3, 1933 before moving with her family to Kimberley in 1946. After graduation she lived many places however most of her life was enjoyed in Vancouver, where she met her husband Mike. After Mike passed on in 1982 Viv moved back and forth between Vancouver and Kimberley before finally settling in the Kimberley/Cranbrook area in 1998.

Viv was known for her sunny personality, ready smile and generosity of spirit. She was always up for a cup of coffee, dessert and chat. She had the gift of making all who met her feel instantly comfortable.

Your children Patrick and Paul (Jodie) as well as brother Lowell (Arlene) andsister-in-law Wilma celebrate your life. You will be missed by your grandson Samuel and are now reunited with your grandson Joshua whom you have missed since 2003.

An informal memorial gathering to Celebrate Viv's Life will be held at McPherson's Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 12:00 pm. Donations in honour of Viv may be made to the: Alberta Children's Hospital, 2888 - Shaganappi Trail NW, Calgary, Alberta, Canada T3B 6A8 or your local SPCA branch.
