Such a great tribute, worthy of her!
As a host student, I feel Brenda was a mother of mine - full on, not only hosting but loving. I feel heartbroken to find this.
I do regret not contacting her more often, but she is with me in my mind:
Every time I felt short-tampered with something she is there to get me out of being frustrated. She had such a unique way of dealing with such moments: She didn't hide the fact she wasn't happy, but she wasn't mad nor impatient. I would describe it as "joyful complaint".
Every phone call and conversation with her was a joy and I'll dearly remember them. She has been a teaching mother and a role model and moreover a blast to listen to music with!
How she dealt with so many teenagers, especially me, I have no idea but:
She did it with such compassion, love and joy that easily should have earned her a trophy every year.
I broke the news to the whole Family Rudert, and we all send love to all you who grieve her - especially Josie, Anna and Brian. We are very grateful to have gotten to know you and her!
Just last year I was at the most memorable concert ever: Rammstein in front of 70.000 people. She would have loved it and I want to dedicate that Moment of pure Joy to her. (The photo shows a glimpse and the size of the candle fire I would like to light for her)
