Mark Everett Strang
1938 – 2019
Husband. Father. Grandfather. Great Grandfather.
You were born in Claresholm, Alberta on August 21, 1938. You passed away in your home in Fairmont Hot Springs, British Columbia on December 10, 2019.
On November 13, 2019 you and Sheila celebrated 61 years of marriage. Together you raised four children. You were so proud of your grandchildren. A smile always broke out on your face when you saw any of your great grandchildren. You did good!
Calgary, Kimberley, Victoria – they’ve all been called home. In 2000, you and Sheila retired in Fairmont Hot Springs. You have always loved this valley.
We miss you terribly. We feel choked by grief and can’t believe we will never see you again. Hear you laugh.
You were the fixer of everything and anything. People called you Miracle Mark! A master craftsman. Your talent, research, knowledge and passion showed in whatever you did. Especially your woodworking or photography. We are forever thankful and honored to be the recipients of that talent!
Your grandkids loved your story telling and sense of humor. You were quietly and effortlessly funny. And sometimes, maybe a bit silly. You made us laugh.
You once said it is harder to make your own path in life than it is to follow one that had been written for you. You decided your path was full of kindness and love for your family. Compassion and respect for nature and humankind. You chose to be gentle, soft spoken. A patient listener and forgiving. The kind of man others wanted to be like.
A strong man. An intelligent man. A happy man.
Your influence will stay with us forever. We will honor you by being the kind of person you chose to be. The example you set. Know that you were immensely loved – surrounded by love. And will continue to be loved.
We will never forget you.
Love,
Your family
Mark requested no service. His ashes will be spread, at a later time, in the mountains that he and Sheila love.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services.
