Visiting the Bedell home was never dull or ordinary...there was always something going on that was entertaining. I think that your dad had a lot to do with that. I remember his warm and sweet smile with that Bedell-twinkle in his eye. My heart goes out to you all with the loss of Ken. Just know that all of you have a part of him in you. so he lives on. So many hugs

Although this is a sad time for the Bedell family, I can only think of funny things about Mr Bedell. Denise and I became friends at 13 years old, so Mr and Mrs Bedell have known me a looong time. He always had something funny to say about everything. At the lunch table he would say “ please pass me the k-nife you k-not head. Of course, he pronounced the k instead of keeping it silent. To this day, I have to say it every now and then and I just laugh. No one else does, but I do. Mr. Bedell drove Denise and I to Mt Baker in grades 11and 12 in the Willow Appliance cube van. Denise and I were typical teenagers who talked about everything and didn’t really think that he could hear us because he was old( remember this is the teenage brain talking). After we graduated Mr Bedell mentioned a certain pair of girls who snuck out one night. That was the one and only time I ever snuck out and he knew. I am forever endebted to him for keeping the secret and for not ever asking for gas money. It is okay if people know now because I am old enough to deal with the ridicule from my kids. Haha. Mr. Bedell was one of the most positive people I have ever met and I am glad I met him as a teenager. Life is not always easy, but humour can make any situation a bit lighter. Thank you Mr. Bedell for always saying or doing something to make me laugh. You’ll not be forgotten. Menutz

To the Bedell family, so sorry to hear about Ken's passing. Ken was a great person and I remember him taking me under his wing when I met Neal. Ken was the one that taught me how to ride a motor bike and I loved it, I also remember Ken taking us to the Kimberley ski hill in the station wagon and spinning out on the road up to the hill. I recall Ken saying I guess we are walking from here guys. So many great memories when we were young.
Thinking of the family at this difficult time.

Dear Bedell Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Ken was truly a very special person. I believe that I may have only met Ken one time, but one time was all it took for him to make me feel like part of the family. Mike Jones and I had a road trip from Portland, Oregon to Cranbrook, and ended up spending a few days out at the cabin on the lake with Ken and the kids. I will never forget that trip and especially sitting around the camp fire at night with Ken. Ken could make Mike and I feel like the old ones. Ken was full of energy and full of life and it is one of my greatest memories. Your whole family, and especially Ken made me feel welcome and I feel honored to know you. I send you my deepest sympathies and condolences.
Love,
Lar Knopf

One of the best qualities of Uncle Ken was his generosity of spirit and he had a great laugh. He taught Corbin how to ride a motorbike and was always on the go. Being able to go to the lake was a highlight and I will always remember. He always seemed so happy and easy going and seemed to enjoy every moment.
I am so sorry for all of you, its a big loss and I send hugs to all Aunty Germaine, Brian, Cathy, Denise, Russ, Neil, Warren, Jody and their families.
Love Janice

We met the "whole" Bedell family in May of 1970, the day the family arrived to reside in their present home.
Speeding up the back lane in a cloud of dust came a station wagon, brakes go on, all the back windows roll down
and 7 Bedell kids climb out. The front doors open and out of the front seat comes a Ken and a Germaine. Dale and I
look at each other and said "what the hell, these must be our new neighbours"?.
We have maintained good neighbours and friends over the past 50 years, Learning early on the Ken could fix anything and
Germaine was a fantastic cook. We have enjoyed many good times with the family and am pleased to report all 7 Bedell Kids have gown up to are responsible adults. The only one who refused to grow up was Ken. He was forever manufacturing a prank, a joke or a moon to bestow on some one.
We will miss Ken running his motor bikes, quads, snow removal equipment and anything else he was in the midst of binfordizing, up and down the back lane. Ken was always a busy doing something. Made us neighbours with coffee mugs in hand feel lazy on many occasion. Rest in peace Dear Ken. You have left us all with a very large assortment of memories, sprit and laughs.
We miss you already. Germaine-we are always here for you. Family-hold your memories close to your hearts.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming.... Wow! What a Ride”
This embodies Ken and all the stories that have been shared of the fun, crazy antics he had during his ride! Ken will be sadly missed.
Sending our deepest sympathy to the Bedell family.

We are going to miss Ken SO much. The neighborhood has lost much of its charm with his passing. He and Germaine have been so kind to us over the last 47 years, with their welcoming hugs, Ken's jokes and chats as he puttered in his garage, his snowplowing of the alley and his genuine affection for all of us who were lucky enough to live within his orbit. We feel blessed to have known him. Rest in eternal peace, friend.

I was saddened this morning to hear that Kenny had moved on. I’m afraid I was unaware of his recent illness.
Always a smile he had ..and a warm greeting. Ken was an inspiration in many ways but his pleasant, easy to meet, personality made him just a favourite person to many. I know he inspired all you kids and set a wonderful example, but that admiration and inspiration extended well beyond your family. He was well respected as a ‘straight’ businessman, as well as a solid neighbour and committed family man. I admired his attitude and his constant positive outlook.
I’m glad to hear your Mom is still managing to live at home despite her sight disability. Please pass my thoughts to her and to all the Bedell family. I’m feeling for you all right now.

“The trick is to grow old, but not grow up”. Ken nailed that. Great person, dad, grandad, great granddad, and most of all a loving husband. To see his love for Germaine even past “her best before date” warms heart, now always. Big hugs to the whole family from deep in my heart. He always brings a smile to my face. Love that guy❤️
