Obituary of Joseph William Staples
1929 - 2010
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Joseph William Staples announces his passing on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 80 years of age.
Joe was born on December 29, 1929 in Cardston, Alberta. He was employed at CPR for 40 years. He worked as a telegrapher and later became the yardmaster. He retired from the company in 1986. First and foremost, Joe was a family man. His hobbies included woodworking, model railroads, camping at Kootenay Lake, spending time with family and friends and the railway museum. He cherished his dog Meisha whom he doted on fully.
Joe is survived by his loving wife Jean of 58 years; his sons: Duncan (Sandy), Darcy, Greg; his grandchildren: Kieth, Joey, Angie, Jaime, Kyle, David, Alicia, Tarra, Jono and Shelbey; his great grandchildren: Tyson, Brianna, Conner, Savannah, Aiden, Jason, Hailey and Lylee.
A memorial service for Joe will be held at the McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 3:00 pm. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in his honour may do so to the: Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon, Cranbrook Unit, #101, 105 - 9th Avenue South, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 2M1.
