Obituary of Alex Becking

1985 – 2020

 

Alexander “Alex” James Becking, age 34 of Cranbrook, British Columbia, passed away on July 11, 2020.

Alex was born on July 26, 1985, to Judy and Tim Becking in Cranbrook, B.C., where he was raised and attended school. Fondly referred to by his close family and friends as “Beave”, he was a dedicated son, loyal sibling, adoring uncle, and devoted friend.

Alex was a talented athlete whose hockey career took him to Creston and Kimberley, where he played years of competitive hockey. After his hockey career ended, he attended Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, B.C., and SAIT in Calgary, AB, where he achieved his red seal, as a journeyman electrician.

Alex had an accomplished career as an electrician at both Teck in Sparwood, B.C., and most recently, Suncor in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Alex’s work ethic and dedication to his career was astounding. Alex spent his time off work in Lethbridge and Calgary, Alberta, as well as Cranbrook, B.C., with his friends and family.

Alex was the most avid sports fan around. His fandom had no limits, taking him all around North America and Europe as he travelled and explored while taking in as many various sporting events as possible.

Alex is survived by his parents, Tim and Judy Becking, his sister, Leanne Klassen, brother in law, Scott Klassen, two nieces, Alyssa and Rylee Klassen, his brother, Aaron Becking, sister in law Kelsey Huculak, his brother, Rob Becking, and his many cousins, aunts, uncles, grandma, and close friends.

There will be a small, intimate service for close family in Cranbrook, B.C., There will be a Celebration of Life for all of Alex’s friends, coworkers, and relatives at a future date, when larger gatherings are permitted.
