Obituary of Stuart James Lochhead

After a courageous battle with cancer, Jim passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 31, 2020 at the age of 72.

 

Born in Welland, Ontario, Jim spent most of his life in Port Colborne, Ontario before  moving to Cranbrook, British Columbia in 2007, where he spent a great deal of time enjoying his love of the outdoors and many hunting adventures. 

 

Jim was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces, joining at the age of 16 as an Apprentice Soldier.  Later he was employed as a welder, and spent much time repairing ships on the Great Lakes. After semi-retiring, he held various jobs where he was able to make many new friends.

 

Jim was a kind loving man who always had a smile but was never afraid to tell you how it is. His direct approach and honesty and love for people helped many find their way.  He will be dearly missed by many.

 

Jim is survived by his beloved wife Irene, children Shari Lochhead (Brad), Brent Lochhead (Brenda) and Joe Galandy (Landis). Much loved Grandfather to Chelsea Andrews, Mitchel Lochhead (Desiree), Connor Lochhead (Naudia), Hannah and Alexandra Bertulli, Wyatt, Lisa Beth, Ashley and Addison Galandy and Great-Grandfather to Charlotte, Grey and Lake Lochhead. Also survived by his mother-in-law Mary Strzelczyk and brothers-in-law Ted (Diane) Strzelczyk and Chris (Nancy) Strzelczyk and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his daughter Lisa Galandy, parents William and Barbara Lochhead and brothers John and William (Bill) Lochhead, sister Carol Lochhead and brother-in-law Stan Strzelczyk.

 

A Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the Servant church on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place.

 

Jim will return to Port Colborne, Ontario for burial at a later date.
