Obituary of Katherine Theresa Attree

Please share a memory of Katherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

1950 - 2021

Katherine Theresa Attree (nee Evans) had her last sunrise on January 2nd, 2021 passing peacefully in the loving comfort of her family, after a painful but courageous battle.

Kathy was born and raised in Kimberly, B.C., to Elven and Audrey Evans. She was the fourth of five children. Kathy graduated from Selkirk High School in 1969 and moved to the coast for a few years. There she met and married Mike Attree and they moved back to Cranbrook to raise their family. When her children were older, Kathy moved to Fernie for a few years, then Lethbridge, returning to Cranbrook in 2004 to be closer to family.

Throughout her life, Kathy enjoyed skiing, swimming, traveling, camping, and caring for animals.  Her biggest passion though, was time with family. She was blessed with close relationships with all her siblings and enjoyed many eventful get-togethers over the years. Kathy also loved being a mom and worked hard for her family. Her greatest blessings were her grandchildren, and the time she spent making memories with them. Kathy will always be remembered for her compassion, perseverance, patience, and radiant smile.

Kathy leaves to mourn her passing, her son Curtis (Penny) Attree, daughter Carmen (Marco) Gallina, son Greg (Dawn) Sakulich, grandchildren Colton, Parker, Dalton, Makayla, Mateo, Brianna, Emily, Brooklyn, Jessie and Colten, sister Sandra (Lorne) Westgate, sister Val (Doug) Traverse-Williamson, brother John (Susan) Evans, nephews Wade, Shane, Lance and Tim, niece Rhonda, many cousins, and friends.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents, older brother Brian, and former husband and friend, Mike Attree.

The family would like to thank Dr. Andreas, Dr. McIver, and especially the nurses and care aids in Mount Steven’s Unit at Joseph Creek Care Village for their exceptional care.

A Celebration of Kathy’s life will take place this summer. Those who wish to honour and remember Kathy’s life can do so by donating to the Cranbrook branch of the BCSPCA.

Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services.
