Hi neighbour! Beautiful service. Thank you for sharing all the special memories and stories with us all. Thank you for welcoming us into your last neighbourhood in Cranbrook in 1996 and sharing your children’s expertise instructors and coaches for our girls in their childhood. I will always remember Don coming across the alley to check in on Bart’s newest project, or to just to chat with Bart and Hank. I miss Candy’s annual visits as she canvassed for donations for the Cancer Foundation and we exchanged updates about our children. Candy, if you’re passing by just come visit us on the weekends at our cabin on Kootenay Lake. And now, all I can say is “So long neighbour”.
Love Elaine Knudsgaard.

I want to express my condolences to the Rivers family for Don's passing. I knew him as a parent of his children, as I taught all three of them. I enjoyed some special times with him on multi-day hikes into the mountains. He was a great hiking partner.

Dear Candy and Family, so sorry to hear of Don's passing. I felt great sadness and shock when I read it in the paper. We had such good times over the years when we used to attend Parkland staff parties and other events and get togethers. As well as those times Don and David went on the many fishing trips with all the guys. Don will be remembered and greatly missed by a lot of people. Take Care. Condolences from Gayle (Etmanski) Slobodian.

Sorry to hear of Don's passing. He was an exceptional teacher and person. Bumping into him on the street was always a pleasure, he loved to reminisce and "catchup". The fact that he would ask about specific things that interested you showed how caring Don was. He is one teacher I will never forget.
His kind and gently spirit will be missed.

Candy and family,
Thinking of you at this incredibly difficult time. We have such fond remembrances of Don. He was a good conversationalist and listener. He always made people feel valued when they spoke. Our daughter has very positive memories of her time in ‘Mr. Rivers English class’. I remember my first year teaching in Cranbrook when my roommate, Candy met this wonderful guy and they both knew that they had met their ‘forever’ person. Sending loving thoughts to you Candy, Larissa and boys. Judy and Victor

Dear Candy and Family
So sorry to hear of Don's passing on Feb 23. He and Fred were fishing buddies in the early Parkland/Mt Baker days. Our daughter quoted: "I remember Don Rivers from grade 8. I really liked him." This has been a long journey for all, may his soul rest in peace and your family find comfort.
Sincerely
Rose Stevens and Family

So sorry to hear of Don's passing. I first met him and Candy on a ski trip to Big Mountain in Whitefish, lots of fun. Don sang in the Kootenay Harmony Chorus for a while and I was a member at the same time. I looked after Don's parents income tax back in the late seventies and early eighty's, really nice people(Pierre and Francis). On behalf of my wife Barb and I are condolences to Candy and her family for their loss.

I had the honour of being taught by Don Rivers in Grade 8 and then working with Don as a teacher in Mt. Baker Secondary. Don was a caring professional, with a great sense of humour. Thank you for instilling the joy of English and learning! You were the consummate professional and joy of a person. Thank you, for all that you taught me!
