Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

1931 - 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Bill Shkwarok announce his passing on Friday, April 16, 2021.

Bill was born in Nelson, B.C., on December 31, 1931. He lived with his family in Sirdar, B.C., until moving to Cranbrook at 14 years of age. Bill and Eileen married in 1957 and together they raised their three daughters while Bill worked for Canada Post for 34 years, retiring in 1991.

Those who knew Bill would recall his love of fishing and camping. His garden was his pride and joy, as were his grandchildren. Bill’s grandchildren will lovingly remember him as the greatest Pa who took them camping every summer. Their best memories with Pa include eating peanuts while they fished, carving boats to race in the creek and hearing him laugh when he told his favorite stories. His family will cherish their memories and his love will not be forgotten.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Eileen; daughters Jo-Anne (Lincoln) Bohonos, Sherry (Steven) Martindale, Denise Shkwarok; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Mark), Blake (Nicole), Megan (Travis), Chelsea (Tyson), Mitchell (Ashley), Tyler and Koryl; eleven great grandchildren; one great, great granddaughter; brother Jim Shkwarok and his family.

Bill was predeceased by his parents John and Mary, and his younger brother, Stan.

At Bill’s request a funeral service will not be held. A family celebration will take place at a later date.

Bill’s family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. Witten for his excellent care and the staff on the 3rd floor at East Kootenay Regional Hospital for their care and compassion.

Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services.
