Obituary of Ann Brochu

Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

1935 -2021

Ann passed away on May 5th at the age of 86. She was raised in Penticton and lived most of her life in Nelson, B.C.  She worked at the Eaton catalogue office for many years. When they closed, she briefly went back to school to update her skills. Ann completed her working career at the BC Forest Service, retiring after 20 years. She and her partner, Roy Crutchley moved to Cranbrook in 2007 to be closer to family.  In their 30+ years together they enjoyed opening their Wasa Lake cabin in the Spring and spending weekends and holidays out there, until it was time to close up for winter. While working, and well into their retirement, the two made an annual trip to their favourite place, Waikiki beach. They liked to sit on the beach, enjoy the sun and people watch.  Unfortunately Roy passed away in 2016. Ann returned to Hawaii in 2018, with her children & their spouses, to enjoy it for the final time.

During her relatively short time living in Cranbrook, Ann was able to meet and become friends with a wide group of people. She loved her home in Willowbrook & had great neighbours looking out for her. Ann enjoyed going on lunch and coffee dates with “the ladies”.

Of her immediate family, Ann is survived by her children, Colleen (Tom) Hedin of Cranbrook and Dan (Blythe Nilson) of Lake Country as well as her sisters-in-law Edna Carlbeck of New Westminster and Eileen Wasilciw of Kimberley.

At her request and due to COVID, no service will take place.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation https://www.heartandstroke.ca/

“Aloha Ann”
