Obituary of James Andrew Breakwell

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James Andrew Breakwell was born on May 21st, 1996, in Cranbrook, B.C., and passed away tragically
on June 7th, 2021, in Jaffray, B.C., at the young age of 25 years old.

James was a cherished son to Colin Breakwell and Laurie Shepherd-Breakwell. He was a deeply loved grandchild to Trevor Mostyn and Ron and Karen Breakwell; a treasured nephew to Wade and Diana Lightburn,Trevor and Kathy Mostyn, Vincent and Alisha Mostyn and Jay and Marla Jones. He was a much loved cousin to Natasha (Matt) Ethan, Aleana, Emily (Michael), Dylan, Tyson, Melissa (Lane),Carson, Sydney, Jessie, Hunter, Addison, Quincie, Presley, Elliot and Samuel. James was also greatly loved by his extended family, friends and anyone who ever met him. James was predeceased by his 23 year old brother Ian Shepherd (who James idolized) on June 11th, 2010; his loving grandmother Doris Mostyn (who was like a second mother to him) on April 7th, 2021; his favourite great Uncle Bob Mostyn, whose jokes and humour gave James endless laughs; his great grandmothers, Jean Breakwell and Maureen Rosicky, who loved and adored James dearly; and many other special family members...

James lived his entire life in Jaffray, B.C., which heloved so much that the only place he would look at homes and land to buy was in Jaffray. James attended Jaffray School from Kindergarten to grade ten and went on to graduate in Fernie, B.C. Throughout James’ school years he was always at the top of his class academically. Receiving honor roll and Distinction every year. James participated in all school and recreational sports and was rewarded for his great sportsmanship, coachability and value to the teams he played on. James was a proud member of the 4-H Club for several years and received many awards for the animals he raised and for his many entertaining speeches. Upon graduation from Grade twelve James received several scholarships which started him on his path to becoming a Red Seal Journeyman Electrician. Which he became on December 3rd, 2019. He received his Red Seal Journeyman Diploma from
the College of the Rockies with Academic Distinction. James worked for Cooks Electric, where he loved his job, boss, and co-workers.

James loved everything outdoors. If he wasn’t fishing, hunting, or hiking for sheds he was out exploring the backroads and mountains in one of his many 4x4s. Other outdoor activities he loved were skiing, sledding, boating and campfires. James loved his time with family and friends. He never missed a family occasion and valued the weekly family ‘Sunday Suppers’ at Grandma and Grandpa Mostyn’s home. James loved music, playing guitar and singing, and was really good at it, which only a select group of people were fortunate enough to hear because of his shy, humble nature. James was a moral, ethical, loyal, kind, caring and loving person who would do anything for his family and friends. He lit up a room with his beautiful smile and contagious laughter. James was a dream son. He was the light of our lives. We lived for him and his hopes and dreams. We thanked God every day for giving us a son as special as him. There was not one time when
we parted ways that we didn’t say ‘I love you”. We really don’t know how we are going to live without him....

We were so fortunate to have James in our lives and will love and miss him forever.
