Obituary of Grant Paterson

Please share a memory of Grant to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

1954 - 2021

Thomas Grant Paterson passed away on September 15, 2021, in his home in Cranbrook, B.C.

Grant was born and raised in Creston, B.C. He spent much of his adult life in Elkford, B.C., where he raised his family while working as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Operator and Trainer at Fording River Operations. After over 40 years of service, he moved to Cranbrook for his retirement.

Grant was well-known for his immaculate lawn, but he was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and nature photography. He tied his own flies, and was skilled at woodworking, welding and locksmithing. You could often find him riding his Harley-Davidson or taking the Jeep up the river to go fishing, and he treasured time with his grandchildren, spoiling them with candy at every opportunity. If someone needed help, he was always the first to show up with the right tool in hand.

Grant is survived by his partner Lorri Moulton, daughters Melanie Paterson (David Dyck) and Kayla Paterson (Kenton Hemsing), grandchildren Declan Dyck, Elsie Paterson-Hemsing and Sybil Paterson-Hemsing, and sister Karen Andrew (Paterson).

Grant was predeceased by his father George Thomas Paterson, mother Mable Irene Paterson (Watkins), and sister Kristy Paterson of Creston, B.C.

No service will be held per his wishes. Memorial donations may be made to Angel Flight East Kootenay Association, 4360 Cokato Road, Fernie, BC, VOB 1M4 or online at https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/angel-flight-east-kootenay-association.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Grant's supportive friends and health care workers.
