Alfonso was born in San Lorenzo, Italy and immigrated to Canada when he was 15 years old. He married Hazel Henry in 1960 and worked as a locomotive engineer for CP Rail, from July 14, 1952, until his retirement on January 1, 1991.

He was an avid bocce player, excellent dancer and loved to golf and fish. Alfonso was a long-time member of the Columbo Lodge where he participated in many events and bartended for functions over the years.

Alfonso is survived by his daughter Donna (Randy) Eldred, and their families Aaron (Carly-Jo), Lucas and Jacob, Paige (Joe), Emily, Brynlee and Tyan, Karlee (Joey) and Tate, Kalee (Cody) and Brooklynn, daughter Diana (Mike) Smedstad, Benjamin and Jessie, and long-time companion Jan Hughes.

He was predeceased by his parents and four siblings.

There will not be a service in honour of Alfonso’s request.

Alfonso passed away with family members at his side, showing his strength, determination, and humour until the very end. Family was his pride and joy and meant the world to him. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
