September 26, 1930 - October 20, 2021

With deep sadness we acknowledge the passing of Esther Marie Lindhorst on October 20, 2021. Esther passed peacefully at Swan Valley Lodge in Creston, after spending more than 90 of her 91 years as a resident of Cranbrook.

Esther was a wife, mother, and homemaker, she raised her children and lived in the home she and Fred had built for more than 60 years. She enjoyed the outdoors in her younger days, loved to read and often kept her mind sharp with crossword puzzles and other games. She spent a lot of time as a care giver to the people in her life. She was a member and officer of Maple Leaf Rebekah Lodge #19 for many years.

Esther is survived by her son John (Linda), her son Brian, and her daughter Janice, grandchildren Eden (Tristan) and Sarah (Richard), great grandchildren Beck and Georgia, step grandchildren William and Eileen (Clinton) Braglin, step great grandchildren Lucas and Aria, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Olaf and Marta Matilda Erickson, her husband of 48 years Fred, her five brothers and four sisters in law, Einar (Agda), Helmer (Opal), Beno (Clara), Eddie (Mickey), and Bert, her three sisters and three brothers in law, Elsie (Leo) Nelson, Ellen (Edwin) Price, and Margret (Bob) Hutchison.

The family would like to thank the Cranbrook Home Care nursing staff and the staff of Swan Valley Lodge for the care and comfort provided to our mother in the last years of her life.

In honour of Esther’s request there will be no formal service, A Graveside Service will take place on November 3, 2021 at Westlawn Cemetery at 1:00pm. Those wishing to donate in lieu of flowers may do so to a charity of their choice.
