Obituary of Teresa Julia Phillips (nee Ogieglo)

Please share a memory of Teresa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

1931 - 2021

On December 9, 2021, Teresa Julia Phillips (nee Ogieglo), our beloved mom, grandma, great-grandma, great-great-grandma, sister, auntie, and friend passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family at the age of 90.

Teresa was born on January 1, 1931, to Mary and Joseph in Cedoux, Saskatchewan. Teresa moved to Weyburn where she became a psychiatric nurse. Teresa later moved to Regina, Ottawa, Moose Jaw and Edmonton before calling Kimberley her home. Teresa worked at Cameo Cleaners and later many years at the Ski Hill. In 2004 Teresa suffered a series of strokes and after two years spent with her sister and family in Regina, Teresa called Joseph Creek Care Village her home.

Teresa's love for her family was matched only by her faith in God and compassion for others. A family friend called Teresa The Flying Nun because 'she loves God and was always on the go'. Her faith was the very backbone of her strength. 'Pray about it' were words spoken often by Teresa. Her children would say 'Mom has a direct line to God'. Before becoming a grandmother, herself, Teresa was involved in the Granny Program where she could share the love with others that she always shared with her children and family. Teresa loved working at the Ski Hill and the memory of it always brought a smile. Once her children were older, Teresa would work the early morning Christmas shift so others could spend that special time with their children.

Teresa is survived by her children, Carolee (Leon), Rocky (Tammy), Sabrina, Trudy (Roger), Barry (Patti) Rene (Marilyn) and Lori (Cameron), 20 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, sister Monica (Allen), brother Emil (Krys), numerous nieces and nephews, friends and former husband of 20 years and friend Orval. May you take comfort as her family does knowing Teresa is with those who predeceased her including her very best friend.

Thank you to the staff and Teresa's friends at Joseph Creek Care Village for all your care and support.

A Service will be held in the Spring in the sunshine that Teresa loved so. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
