1935 - 2011

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Nilo Giuseppe Feregotto announce his passing on Saturday, January 15, 2011 in Cranbrook, British Columbia at the age of 75.

Nilo enjoyed the great outdoors as an avid fisherman and hunter. One of his favourite hobbies was collecting firewood around the East Kootenay to stack for the long winters. He enjoyed his time in the garage fixing vehicles and always had projects on the go.

Nilo was born in Braulins, Undine, Italy on November 28, 1935. The youngest of three, Nilo entered into a Priest School at the age of 9 where he spent 8 years being schooled and trained in the masonry trades. When he was 19 Nilo moved to Paris, France to work as a bricklayer. He then immigrated to Canada in 1957 to join family in Cranbrook, British Columbia. After working for Crestbrook for some time, he then started his own cement finishing business which he ran successfully while raising three children with his wife Bruna. Nilo retired at the age of 50, and kept a busy lifestyle from then on.

Nilo is survived by his wife Bruna, daughters Paola Miller (Randy), Sonya Connah (Al), his son Giulio (Garna), grandson Aaron Connah, granddaughters Devon, Taylor, and Hunter Miller, his sister Domenica of Braulins, Italy as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Italy and Belgium. He was predeceased by his parents Lino and Elvera and his brother Bruno all of Braulins, Italy.

A Funeral Mass for Nilo will be held Friday, January 21, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Cranbrook. Donations in honour of Nilo can be made to the: Canadian Cancer Society, 19 - 9th Avenue South, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 2L9.
