Obituary of Grace Winnifred Stuart

November 9, 1918 – January 24, 2022

It is with heavy hearts the family of Grace Winnifred Stuart announce her peaceful passing. She was blessed to have many family members by her side.

Grace was born on November 9, 1918, and received her wings on January 24, 2022, at 103 years old. Grace was a social butterfly who made friends wherever she went and kept many friends for life. The youngest of 11 children, she was born in Hutton, Alberta and grew up in Canyon.

Grace enjoyed music and was a church organist until a few years ago. She was happiest when surrounded by her family. Grace never forgot a birthday or a special event.

As important as anything else, was her long list of fast and loyal friends - friends from church, from organizations such as the Pythian Sisters and Rebeccas, the South Country Seniors in Jaffray, her Fernie friends and Cranbrook friends and one cannot forget all her brothers, sisters and cousins…in short…speaking with absolute truth…She was extremely respected and loved far and wide, by young and old and from old friends and new friends…all of them.

Grace leaves four children, Grant (Cynthia), Marilynn, Valerie, and Doug, along with her grandchildren, Grace, David, Heather, Tracey, Kevin, Joe, Gord, Lynn, James, and numerous great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son Edward in 1976, and her husband Henry in 2007, and grandson Dale in 2020.

The family would like to extend sincerest thanks to all the Care Aides and Nurses at Joseph Creek Village. Mom’s favorite saying was, “Try not to get fussed.” We think this philosophy aided her longevity. She truly had a way of making everyone feel so special and loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McPherson Funeral Home on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 1:00 pm. The service will also be available via live stream on Grace’s obituary page on the McPherson Website to for those unable to attend in person.
