Dale Phoenix

Obituary of Dale Roger Phoenix

Please share a memory of Dale to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is our great sadness to share, the passing of Dale Phoenix on February 7th, 2022. Dale was born on December 9, 1948, he came into our lives on March 14th, 1991, when our mom went out to celebrate the birth of her first grandchild. Their relationship began where many great love affairs have started, at the Byng. Dale was in town as a contracted worker, having worked in various communities throughout B.C., in his career in construction of pulp mills. Our mom had first met Dale many years prior, as a young family living in Quesnel B.C., and one of our dad’s best buddies. Mom was not fond of him during this time, because to hear her tell it, he led our father into shenanigans. To meet Dale again years after our dad’s passing, on one of the happiest days of her life, was to connect first in the joy of shared memories which developed into friendship and love. Their marriage was a road trip to Vegas, and The Little White Chapel on February 10th, 1998. This reflected their love of road trips, dancing, playing cards and gambling.

We do not know a great deal of the story of Dale before us. He did share stories of his love for playing ball, travelling extensively through Europe, his favorite place being Barcelona and his love for his two nieces, Courtney, and Ashley.

Grumpa was everything to our children. Shared memories from his grandchildren: “The claw”, chasing them screaming through the house every holiday much to their delight and not their Mama’s, everyone gifted a loving nickname (Una Baby), cheering the loudest at every baseball and hockey game, teaching all of us to parallel park like a God the day before our road test, the best hugs given, the best steaks grilled, the best caesars made, and always a safe ride home.

We know you lost your way after mom passed away and this can happen when your heart is broken. Thank you for loving our children and being their loudest cheerleader. Thank you for loving us like your own. Thank you most of all, for loving our mom, Fern.

Hope you are all having fun getting into shenanigans. Love Deni, Lindy, and families.

A private celebration of Dale’s Life will be held virtually with his close family.
