1930 - 2022

On February 8, 2022, we lost our beautiful, classy, graceful, amazing, feisty, and fiercely independent mother, just three days shy of her 92nd birthday.

Patricia “Pat” Larsen was born in Camp Lister, B.C., to Charles and Margaret Lapointe. Upon graduation from high school, she moved to Cranbrook and worked as a practical nurse at Saint Eugene Hospital. This would be the start of a long career in health. In 1950 she married the love of her life, Carl Edward Larsen and together they raised four children. When her youngest child started school she returned to the workforce with a brief stint at the Dairy Queen, then trained to become a nursing unit clerk. She was proud to be one of the first unit clerks at the new Cranbrook and District Hospital (now EKRH). Following this she became a receptionist at the Associate Medical Clinic, then a switchboard receptionist at the hospital. “Retirement” was short lived, and she began working in retail, showcasing her fashion sense and love of clothing, working at Mary L and Marcella's Dress Shop. In addition, she became a very successful “Avon Lady”, winning many awards and a trip to the Bahamas. Pat loved traveling and one of her fondest memories was a vacation she and Carl took to Barbados.

She loved antiquing, collecting stamps, digging for old bottles, gardening, decorating, and reading. Pat made friends easily and enjoyed visiting and spending time with an eclectic mix of friends of all ages, young and old. She also loved shopping trips to Spokane for shoes; oh, how she loved shoes! Pat was a lover of all animals, especially cats. She loved all things Christmas, the reason, the music, Santas', twinkling tree lights and time spent with family. She loved bonfires, charred wieners, sing songs, the warmth of Spring, the smell of fir trees in the Fall, and the snow-capped Steeples glistening in the sunlight. She loved the warmth and security of her home and being surrounded by all her favorite things.

Pat wanted to be remembered for her kindness to others, her kindness to animals, her love little children and her love of nature. Mom has left us with many wonderful memories of a life well lived. Her love will remain in our hearts forever.

She is survived by her children Daryl (Trudy) Larsen, Marni (Ray) Goss, Marty Larsen, David Larsen, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Pat was predeceased by her parents Charles & Margaret Lapointe, her husband Carl in 2002, sister Barbara Long and her grandson Daryl.

The family would like to thank some of Mom's special friends for their loving care and concern, especially during the past few months as Mom's health declined. Penny, Linda, Shellie, Pat, Marilyn, and Harry; you were all very special to Mom.

No formal service will be held in honour of Pat’s request. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the EK SPCA in Pat's memory would be welcomed.

Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services.

Condolences for the family can be offered at:
