Obituary of Norma Elaine Halladay

Please share a memory of Norma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

September 19, 1938 – March 10, 2022

With sad news, we announce the passing of our mom, Norma Halladay due to a stroke on March 10, 2022.

Mom was an amazing woman who loved life. She was always an inspiration to all around her. Mom always worked hard and took pride in herself and what she did. She had a great sense humour and was so fun. Mom was born and raised on the McFadden Family Farm in Weyburn, Saskatchewan with her nine sisters and one brother. She loved helping with the farm duties and hanging out with her dad. When she was 18, Mom married the love of her life, Edgie Halladay, together they had four children, Terry, Rob, Diane, and Darren. She was a great mother to all of us and a master at cooking, baking, sewing, crafting, farm chores, and working in the field helping dad. While us kids were growing up, mom worked as a Nurses Aid at the Souris Valley Hospital in Weyburn, which was very interesting.

Our family moved to Elkford, B.C., in 1980. Mom got a job at the Elkford Recreation Centre administering programs. There she left fond memories in the hearts of many residents of Elkford. Mom and dad moved and spent an early retirement in Grasmere, B.C., on an acreage and home they built themselves.

Our upbringing was the most supportive, fun, educational and loving experience kids could hope for, and it continued throughout our lives into adulthood. Mom loved her kids and grandkids deeply, and they loved her in return just as much.

Mom’s heart never recovered after the loss of our dad Edgie, who passed away six years ago. Mom honoured her wedding vows to him with love and caring, honouring his memory until her passing. We will miss mom like crazy, she was our best friend. We are happy knowing mom and dad are together again in a peaceful place. We love you mom, and when we see butterflies, we will think of you.

Mom leaves her four children, her six grandkids and her eight great grandkids to honour and cherish her memory.

With so much love Teresa, Rob, Diane, and Darren, and all your grandkids and great grandkids.

Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services.
