To Barb and Family.
It seems strange to think that Al was a student teacher with me at McKim many years ago. He was definitely a quality student teacher and went on to be a great educator. Big Al will be missed by all. Definitely gone way too soon.
With condolences.

Barb and family,
Barrie and I are so sorry to hear of Al’s passing. Barrie has very fond early childhood memories of Al, including a mishap on a ape swing that broke and left Allan with scraped rear end! Barrie chuckles about that but I don’t know how funny Al found it! He probably just took it in stride. Barrie respected his athleticism and sportsmanship! Our deepest condolences,
Charlene and Barrie Morrison

Condolences to Barb, Kristen, Sean, Daneen and all their families.
Al and I co-taught several P.E. 11 and 12 classes plus co-coached the track and field team for several years at Selkirk Secondary. He was a great guy to teach and coach with - he never got too worked up when things occasionally went sideways, had a great sense of humour and the students loved "Big Al". He will be sadly missed by many, many former students as well as many former colleagues who had the distinct pleasure to teach or coach with him.

Barb and family,
I'm so sorry to hear this news. Mr Streich was a role model to many kids that grew up in Kimberley. He coached a lot of us in basketball and volleyball. Some of us were lucky to have him at McKim and Selkirk. He gave us the advice we needed and was hard on us when we needed that too. He was an important part of my high school years as I didn't have my dad to guide me. He carried on my love of sports that I had watched with my dad, and still love to this day. Condolences to the entire Streich family and know that he meant a lot to us kids growing up too. Paula Craig

Definitely gone too soon. My sincere condolences to Barb and family. As a colleague in education, I had the privilege of being involved in hiring him to teach in Kimberley and the pleasure of seeing the contribution he made during his long career at Selkirk Secondary. As a father of 6 Selkirk students, I witnessed first hand the difference he made in the lives of kids. Rest in peace big guy.

“Streicher” was a larger than life figure at Selkirk, and certainly played a pivotal role in two generations of Patersons in their high school years. Some of our kids’ most entertaining stories involved Mr. Streich! Our condolences to Barb and the rest of the family.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Mr.Streich was my favourite PE teacher (grad 88). He always made class fun even when we had to learn dancing. So glad to hear there is a possible scholarship for future coaches! Condolences to your family and everyone that knew Mr. Streich. Pam Purdy (Lyon)
