Obituary of Betty Louine Rathwell

Betty Louine Rathwell (nee Brown) and affectionately knows as “Betty Boop” or “Mama Betty”, passed away on May 11, 2022 with her family beside her.
Betty was born in 1927 in Lethbridge, Alberta and was raised in the Milk River Ridge area along with her five siblings by parents Alva and Freda. Betty’s early education was at OK School where only herself and one cousin were in her grade. Betty will be so greatly missed by her family. Daughters and spouses, Wendy (Steve), Adele (Kel), son in law Jake (Marilyn), eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and one great great grandchild will always remember her as a caring, patient, and beautiful woman. Betty was predeceased by her eldest, much loved, daughter Dianne.
Betty married Clifford and came to Cranbrook in 1965 with their family and Betty remained fifty-seven years as she raised her girls and was employed in the administrative field. Betty was a valued volunteer in the community by offering her time to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Fort Steele Historical Society, Key City Theatre and the Cranbrook Girls Bugle Band. For 94 years Betty enriched the lives of those around her and provided a constant for many.
In lieu of flowers Betty has requested that donations be made in her name to The Heart and Stoke foundation Heart and Stroke Foundation Website.
There will be an Honouring of Betty’s life at McPherson Funeral Services on May 22, 2022 at 1:00pm.
There will also be a livestream of the service if you are unable to attend in person.
