Obituary of Ruth Koochin
Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
After growing up in Slocan Valley, Mom and Dad set out to their new future moving to Wasa Lake to raise their family and build their businesses. As a devoted homemaker, Mom spent her days spoiling her children, husband, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her traditional roots showed through in her love of family, home, beautiful garden and flower beds.
Mom’s desire to keep some traditions alive led to her own business selling Doukhoubor-style borscht. It began with supplying a small restaurant in Wasa with her product. “Extra beer money” she called it. After moving to Cranbrook, she could be found at the Farmers’ Market selling out her borscht and homemade bread. This lead to a partnership with daughter, Kathy to expand and continue the legacy.
After dedicating your life’s work to caring for all of us, it’s finally time to rest in peace Nanny. Your caring nature and strength will be remembered by all that you have touched.
At Mom’s request, there will be a private celebration of life held at Wasa Memorial Garden.
Love you, miss you, forever grateful
