Obituary of Phyllis Doreen Robison
Please share a memory of Phyllis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sadness that we announce Phyllis Robison’s peaceful passing with family by her side on May 6th, 2022. Mom was an ambitious, hard-working and talented woman. Her talent of baking and her famous pies led her to be sold out daily while living in the Okanagan. She truly made the best pies and the most amazing bread and cinnamon buns. Many will remember her from her outstanding customer service as a manager of numerous departments of the MERC Department store. Many a late dinner was eaten due to staying to help customer after the store closed, to make sure they found the perfect outfit for their event. After retirement, winters were spent down south in El Centro, California golfing and enjoying happy hours with friends.
When Mom and Dad no longer travelled down south, they settled down in Cherry Grove Estates in Oliver, British Columbia. It was here where her baking and cooking talent shone again, as she and friends would host numerous park dinners. She also started an Angel Tree program for the less fortunate whom she always had a warm and generous heart for.
Not one to stay idle, Mom volunteered for the Canadian Cancer Society and the Oliver Thrift Store which she much enjoyed. After Dad’s passing in 2002 Mom came home to be closer to family. After living in Baker Gardens and Joseph Creek Village her final years were spent at the F.W. Green Home. Thank- you to the amazing staff of Joseph Creek Village and the F.W. Green Home for Mom’s exceptional care.
Phyllis will be remembered by her beautiful smile, strength, her sense of humour and most importantly her kindness and generosity and of course her pies. Phyllis is survived by Grant James Robison (Denise), Jacqueline Leigh Tank (Joe), Grandchildren Christopher, Joel (Nick), Patrick (Patricia), Megan and Morgan (Trevor). Mom was predeceased by her husband James Robison, Sister Edna Masters (Jim), Ester Ferguson (Scotty), Ruth Bowman (Ollie) and her infant sister.
There will be a Celebration of Life to be held this summer, with details to follow. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Phyllis may do so by please sending donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
