Obituary of Alfred Calvin Spiers

Please share a memory of Alfred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alfred Calvin Spiers on Friday, May 27th.

My dad had a hard upbringing, but always tackled challenges head-on. He met my mom Gail Lee in 1976, and their first date was at a bowling alley. Bowling would continue to be a big part of his life until 2018. Mom and Dad married May 20, 1978 and enjoyed 25 years together until her passing in 2001. In 1980, they welcomed daughter Kim and in 2018 Dad got his best friend and sidekick, grandson Riley. They did everything together, and one of their main activities was every weekend, they would cuddle on the couch watching TV while letting Mom sleep in. My dad was also my best friend and supporter, he was always there to listen to my problems, and give me encouragement when I needed it. He was so proud that I went back to school and got my Education Assistant certificate. My dad had a joyous outlook on life and was a friend to everyone. He loved to laugh, and many times that was at my expense. Dad wouldn’t want anyone to be sad, be happy with the memories he left with you, as he would say:

“I had a good life.”

He will be missed by his 3 cats Tigger, Mittens and Stash, but most importantly he will be missed by me and Riley. He left us with so many memories and stories that I will be able to tell Riley all the time. We love you.

Alfred was predeceased by the love of his life Gail Lee, and is survived by his daughter Kimberley Spiers (Jim Lyons) and beloved grandson Riley Lyons-Spiers.
