It is with heartfelt sorrow that the family of Ray Burlingham (Papa) announce that he passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 19, 2022.
Ray met and married the love of his life, Donna, in 1960. Ray was a hard worker and a man of many talents. He was a skilled logger, and it was a job he took pride in. Papa always loved camping, hunting, and fishing with his family and close friends. His favorite hunting partner was and will always be his grandson, Justin. Cooking was also one of his passions. From every member of the family your pancakes out camping and cabbage rolls at family dinners are going to be greatly missed. During the summer months, Ray would spend countless hours in his garden which was his pride and joy throughout his life. His love for gardening he passed onto his grandchildren and something they will always cherish. Also, Ray enjoyed attending concerts and many talks over coffee with his dear friend, Lila.
Ray had a huge heart and would always lend a helping hand or listening ear to anyone who needed it. Family was an important aspect of Ray’s life. He shared a special lifelong bond with his daughter, Wendy. They spent many hours laughing, talking, helping, and consoling one another through the good and not so good times of life. Ray’s heart was filled with love for his 4 grandchildren and 4 great-granddaughters. Each one held a special place in his heart.
Left to mourn this amazing man is Wendy and Evan; Justin, Jayme, Lacey, Sierra, and Tiffany; Chelsey and Addy; Jessica; Donielle; Terry; and many extended family members and close friends.
He is predeceased by his wife of 56 years Donna and daughter Cheryl.
Papa always said this isn’t goodbye, it is see you later.
A celebration of life for Ray will be held on Saturday June 25, 2022 at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook from 1-3pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in his honour may do so to the local SPCA.
