I feel fortunate to have met Donna and shared family moments and laughs with her, Bryan, Nellie, Izzy and Leo. She was a smart, fun and vibrant woman who lived fully and touched many lives. My heart goes out to all those holding memories of her close today.

Brenda, Bryan and Karl, I send all my sympathy for your loss of Donna.
I was vacationing with Christine at Lang Bay on the Sunshine Coast and Donna had been there too in previously years. A message pop up from Nicole and I was so shocked that Donna had passed.
I met Donna when I was 18 years old and we were both working in the CNV Purchasing and Property Department. I was a very naive young woman and Donna was about 30 plus years and she took me under her wing and we had so much fun and I learned so much of my work and the world.
I had a 2.5 hour telephone call with her about 3 weeks ago. Normally our chats were much shorter but I will always cherish that we had that very long talk and good laughs about our memories, personal relationships, our families, CNV friends and work mates and even my mother and sister had become friends too.
I knew her health was declining but I was planning to retire and said this was the year I was going to visit her but she told me that I couldn’t come now as she was in bad shape but her doctor felt he could help her and we would get together soon.
I told her that she was a great friend, a mentor to me at work and my personal life. She told me that she wasn't scared to die and I told her that I was scared to die, and I loved her, and I didn't want her to die and I was sobbing but she just kept positive.
I will never forget our memories and her generosity. She was like my big sister or auntie and everyone will miss her.
Take care

Dearest Donna,
You are such a caring, funny , goofy and loving Mom and friend. I get a smile on my face when I think of our times together with Brenda.…and sometimes even just the two of us. You are a good listener, confidant and always see the best in people. Though many years have past since I have seen you…our times together are dear to my heart. Your ability to embrace others as family is truly a gift. Hats off to you Donna. I can just feel your big, bear mama hugs. With much love Kara M
Brenda and Bryan…My heart goes out to you. Our sincerest condolences to you and your families. Kara

I grew up next door to Donna and her family, and was the same age as Brenda. Donna welcomed me into her home and parented me with love, acceptance and joy. Donna would hang out with Brenda and i laughing and clapping as we danced to her vast vinyl music collection. There was always a cookie for me in her never ending cooking jar. And I recall Brenda and i eating a whole jar of canned pickles canned by Donna and her mom. I recall the smell of cabbage rolls and delicious baking. Donna did not age! I notice as I glance at her recent pictures. How you did that is beyond me! i think of Donna and her love for music and her family. You lived a full life Donna! I sense your mom, Nana Beasley, is with you know. And i know that you will continue to watch over your family. They are lucky to have you, as you are them. I wish you an easy transition to the other side. Is there another side where you are adjusting and watching over your family - I don't know for sure but sense it! You were and still are loved. I wish i could take your kitties but my place too small and i am not home much these days.Heres to a full life, Donna! Blessings Donna to you and your family.

Donna and I enjoyed many years of fun and laughter. Walking the seawall at 6 in the morning before going to work. Dancing to the Powder Blues Band, R and B All Stars and Wager. Taking in the Cultural Crawl, Harmony Arts Festival, the Fringe. Getting together with friends at Ambleside for potlucks. Surprising her in Mexico for her 70th. Meeting up in White Horse for a visit at Peigi’s.
She was always full of energy singing in choirs, playing the piano, Go Go Grannies, zumba, cats.
While working fulltime she took Insurance courses, towards accreditation that enabled her to be the mediator for all insurance matters at the City of North Vancouver working with management and lawyers to settle claims.
Upon retiring, Donna sold her apartment in North Vancouver and uprooted to Kimberly starting a new chapter in her life. She was so proud of her home, garden and community. She quickly became part of the community, making new friends to share adventures.
She loved her children and all her grandchildren and spent time between Vancouver and Kimberly cherishing every moment.
In the early 90’s Donna started a Christmas tradition that continues to this day, which was to give back to the forgotten and homeless. It started by wrapping gifts for the patients at Riverview, which we would deliver to them before Christmas. The staff at Riverview were very appreciative of the gesture and looked forward to receiving parcels to be distributed to the patients living there.
On our first delivery to Riverview, we couldn’t find the building to drop the items off at. We could not believe how many buildings were on the grounds. We spotted a door that had been propped open and thought someone might be able to help. I stayed in the vehicle and Donna went in. It didn’t take long before I saw Donna almost flying down the stairs with a look of panic on her face. She hadn’t seen anyone she could ask directions from, only patients that flocked towards her and encircled her. We both just laughed so hard when she got back into the car. Every time we delivered our parcels, we always had a good giggle. Once the institution closed, we morphed the giving to homeless shelters.
She leaves a hole in many peoples’ hearts and her warm smile will be with me forever.

Donna was a good soul, that left far too soon. I am thankful for the memories, the fun and laughter that we shared.
My heart goes out to you Brenda, Karl, Bryan, Nellie and all her grandchildren, as well as to the Kraushaar family.
I believe she is now in the arms of all her loved ones, who have gone before her. God speed, Donna. You are loved.

I’m so sorry to hear of Donnas passing. She was such a nice lady and I enjoyed singing with her in the choir. Some of the best times was working with her when we held our garage sales for the choir. It was so much fun. My heart goes out to her family at this time.
Love and prayers
