It is with deep sorrow that the family of William Joseph Hanson announce his passing at the Cranbrook Hospital on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 85 years of age.
Bill was born on January 11, 1926 in Morris, Manitoba and was a long-time resident of Kimberley. He was predeceased by his first wife Betty and his brothers. He is survived by his second wife Jeanine; step-children: Evelyne (John), Roger (Doris), Doreen (Craig), Jacqueline (Curtis), Linda (Brian); Betty's children Lorraine, Hugh and Don; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; relatives and friends.
Bill was a second world war veteran. Retired after 37 years of employment with Cominco mines.
A visitation for Bill will take place on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 11:00 am at Knox Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ron Foubister officiating. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Bill may do so to the: Knox Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 2100 - 3rd Street South, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 1G2.
