It is with deep sorrow that the family of Bruce Ferg announces his passing on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 89 years of age in Cranbrook.
Bruce was born on May 15, 1924 in Neepawa, Manitoba and raised in the Nelson, BC area. He enlisted in WWII serving with the Royal Canadian Artillery stationed in Italy. After the war Bruce moved to Cranbrook where he was employed by CP Rail for 38 years. Here he met and married Louise Romano and they were married for over 65 years. They raised their 6 children in Cranbrook. He retired from CP Rail in 1984. Bruce loved his sports especially hockey. He was a season ticket holder of the Kootenay Ice. Bruce's life revolved around his kids and grandkids.
Bruce is survived by his children Diane (Clive), Leanna (Lynn), Marvin, Paul and Mark, grandchildren Tammy (Phil), Darryl (Claire) and Krista (Jeremy), great grandchild Mason and his step-children Steven (Sonia) and James (Debbie). He was predeceased by his son Darryl and his loving wife Louise.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cutler and Dr. Buchar for their care of Bruce over the years. They would also like to thank the doctors and nurses that took care of Bruce at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital during his final hours. Bruce was always thankful for the excellent help from the home support workers that made it possible for him to remain at home until the end. Bruce also had tremendous support from Debi, Curly, Sandra, Clayton, Laurie, Debbie, Bob, Donna and Brian.
A Celebration of Bruce's Life will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 11:00 am. A private family Interment will be held after the Celebration Of Life. A reception will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion in Cranbrook from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
