Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

1925 - 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Renney on February 1, 2011 at Joseph Creek Care Village in Cranbrook, British Columbia at 85 years of age.

Joe was born on March 5, 1925 in Nanaimo, British Columbia. He was raised there and was proud to serve his country in WWII from 1942 - 1946. He met his "sweetie" Helen Mann in 1944 and they were married in 1945. They were blessed with 3 sons: Jim, Phil and Tom. In 1952, they moved the family to Cranbrook where Joe took a job at CP Rail. Joe remained with CPR until 1970 when he started work as a painter with the Cranbrook School District which he retired from in 1990. Joe was an avid outdoorsman and took every opportunity to enjoy hunting and fishing in the East Kootenays. He always kept busy working around "the farm".

Joe is survived by his loving wife Helen; sons: Jim (Bernie), Phil (Sue) and Tom (Glenda); grandchildren: Lisa (Nick), Heather, Natalie (Greg), Craig (Whitney), Jessica and Jamie and great grandchild Lily as well as many nieces and nephews and friends. Joe was predeceased by his three brothers and one sister.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Dave Lenz as well as the many other doctors, nurses and care aides at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital and the Joseph Creek Care Village for their kindness and thoughtfulness in providing excellent care to our dad Joe.

A memorial service for Joe will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 11:00 am at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook.

Cremation preceded the service. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Joe may do so to: KidSport™ Canada, 180, 3820 - Cessna Drive, Richmond, British Columbia, V7B 0A2, or to the charity of your choice.
