Met John many years ago back in Lillooet of all places, I thought of him many times over the years. He was one of the nicest most sincere guys I have ever met. Was lucky enough to lived in Cranbrook for 6 years while John and Joanne lived out at Ft. Steele and I spent time out on the "garlic farm" helping John fall a few trees.
John was one of the best and was sorry to hear of his passing

Joanna, I am so sorry to hear about John's passing. I was just thinking about you and John the other day, wondering how you were doing. When we lived in Comox, I would always think of you while walking down Butchers Road.. I feel blessed to have known and worked with John. When I first came to the Cranbrook area, John became my mentor and friend as we embarked on my first major consulting project. He taught me a lot and was always a great supporter of our Steele O'Neil and Associates business over the years. May your many years together bring you happy memories.

Joanna, I was saddened to read of John's death. He was one of my favourite people in the world, always so kind and welcoming and interested in one's life, as were you, in your wonderful home at Fort Steele. He had such a great smile and so much energy. He was also brilliant, and I was lucky to have worked with him at the FBDB (now BDC), when I was managing the business counselling program. He was a great resource for many local businesses. I will never forget the work he did to create model home in the gymnasium of College of the Rockies for Forest Renewal BC's Value-Added Wood Forum, sourcing every component from wood producers in the Kootenays. Amazing! I am sure your family will miss him.
