Obituary of Geoffrey Cumpstone

Please share a memory of Geoffrey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Geoff. He was the oldest of 6 children, born in Dorking Surrey England to parents Thomas and Gladys. Over his lifetime Geoff served overseas in Cypress with the Canadian Military and was a Corporal in the signal core.

Geoff had a deep love for the ocean and in his younger years was an avid scuba diver. He owned the Duncan Scuba Sea, was a member of the Cowican Waterboys, past president of the BC Divers Association, and dove on many wrecks including the SS Robert Kerr. Geoff was also a long-time member of the Sahtlam Fire Department. His working career was a long one in the heavy-duty mechanic field working in various logging camps and mining operations throughout BC and the NWT.

Geoff loved fishing, hunting, camping and placer mining and could always be found planning his next excursion. Geoff was also an avid reader and loved adventures created by Clive Cussler. Animals had a special place in Geoff’s heart, and he was never long without a cat by his side.

Geoff is predeceased by both his parents Robert (Tom) and Gladys Cumpstone and is survived by his son Geoffrey Graeme Cumpstone and spouse Roselyn of Australia, siblings – Terry (Edith), Linda (Mike), Bob (Rosemary), Kathi (Rick) and Pat (Robert). Also left to mourn are his grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family both in Canada and abroad.

A celebration of life to be determined at a later date, and memorial donations in Geoff’s name may be made to the BCSPCA.
