Obituary of Gert Benson

Gert Benson, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 14, 2023, at the age of 83, leaving her family and friends with heavy hearts.

Gert was born in Kimberley on March 27, 1939, where she spent her younger years, enjoying dancing, singing, and skiing. She had a great sense of humor and loved to joke, always with a sparkle in her eye. Gert was a devoted caregiver, a loving mother and grandmother, always ready to give the most fantastic hugs to her loved ones. She enjoyed many years of camping, fishing, and swimming with her family and friends. She was a good cook and an excellent baker, well-known for her delicious pies. Gert always loved company and a game of cards.

Gert is survived by her children, Pam (Steve) Carnie, Richard, Mike (Michelle), six grandchildren; Amber, Shawn, Kiel, Tiffany, Natasha, and Bobby, eight great-grandchildren, one sister, Linda Stuckey, many in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gert was predeceased by her son Bradley (1981), husband Ron (2013), as well as siblings Sonny, Karl, and Ruby.

Gert will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
