Obituary of Kenton Craig Barber

Please share a memory of Kenton to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

We are brokenhearted to announce the unexpected passing of Kenton Craig Barber on February 23rd, 2023, in Calgary, AB.

Kenton was born moments after midnight on December 17th, 2000, in Cranbrook, BC, brother to Carlie, Gavin and Edyn. He was a strong and beautiful soul from the moment he entered this world. Kenton was known to be exceptionally bright, had a sharp sense of humour and a reputation as a prankster.

In 2018 Kenton graduated from the ACE-It program at the College of the Rockies in Cranbrook, BC. He started his career at Cranbrook Dodge before moving to Dunlop Western Star Dealership. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and was incredibly proud to be a heavy duty mechanic; some of his favourite stories to share were of his shop days with the Dunlop crew.

From 7 to 16, Kenton played baseball and was fondly referred to by his coaches as “The Swiss Army Knife” because he could rock any position. In 2014 at 13, Kenton earned the BC Junior Umpire of the Year Award.

Kenton loved a challenge, and some of his happiest times were playing disc golf and paintball with his friends and siblings. If you were drawing teams, Kenton was definitely the guy you wanted on yours. Kenton also enjoyed longboarding, skiing, and spending summers at the lake swimming. Arm wrestling was another favourite activity where he excelled.

Kenton moved to Calgary in October of 2021, and by February of 2022, he met and fell in love with Rachel and her twin girls, Anastasia and Onyx. They brought joy, happiness and a purpose to his life that made him want to improve and become the good family man that was in him all along.

Mourning the loss of Kenton are his siblings Carlie, Gavin and Edyn and his brother-like cousins Daniel and Curtis. Parents Shawna Stahl (Ed) and Darcy Barber (Rennette), grandparents Dan and Laurie Stahl and Julie Jensen. Aunts and uncles Erin Willier (Everett), Mark Stahl (Kendra), Barry Barber and cousins Evan, Hope, Hunter, Dane, Elijah, Gwen and step-sister Destanee Hudon and her children all share in the pain and a long list of extended family.

Kenton was a bright light that burned out too soon. If love could change this, he would have lived forever.

In lieu of flowers please feel free to make donations to Cranbrook Minor Ball in Kenton’s name.
