Obituary of Sherley Eileen Dean

Please share a memory of Sherley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sherley (Shirley) Eileen Dean

Our hearts are broken with the passing of Sherley Dean of Cranbrook BC.  Born Feb 3, 1935, and passed on March 17, 2023 at East Kootenay Regional Hospital at the age of 88. She was surrounded by family in a room filled with love as she left on her next journey. We are confident she's now with her husband Mark, who predeceased her in 2004, her Mother Elsie Hynes in 2012 and her Father Jim Hynes in 2004.

She is survived by her daughter Janice (Wayne) Rothermel of Calgary, son Earl (Cherie) Dean of Creston and son Mark (Carol) Dean of Cranbrook.

Grandchildren; Wendy (Jason), Dean, Kristel (Wes), Cindy, Amy (Jamie), Sean

Great Grandchildren; Alysia, Taylor, Alissa (Derek), Ashley, Kylie, Austin & Damian, Braxton & Alayah, Victoria & Kade

Great Great Grandchildren; Zayden, Lyric and Hazel

Her surviving sisters; Thelma Parkinson of Revelstoke, Geraldine Thielman of Salmon Arm, Darlene (Rick) Dabell of Revelstoke, Gwen (Steve) Bailey of Edmonton and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sherley worked for her Aunt Liz Onuferchuk at Christmas tree permits for 5 years and then in 1973 she got a job at Cranbrook and District Hospital working in dietary Dept till 1989.  She enjoyed oil painting, crafts, sewing, bowling, and gardening.

Sherley and Mark lived at Wasa most of their life and in 1999 Mark and Sherley moved to Cranbrook. They were blessed with over 52 years of marriage.

After Mark passed, she moved in with her son, Mark Jr., and his wife Carol where Sherley resided till 2022.  Then moved to the Dr. FW Green Memorial Home. She was loved by all the Staff.

We would like to extend our thanks to all the medical team that looked after our Mom with such kindness and care at the Dr FW Green Memorial Home and The Cranbrook Regional Hospital.

Sherley will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered for her love of family, her generosity, and her incredible knowledge of family history.

A celebration of life will be held at the Wasa Community Hall, Saturday July 01, 2023 from 1-4 pm

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sherley’s name can be made to the East Kootenay Foundation for Health or the charity of your choice.
