Lawrence Michael Schneider passed away April 17 2023 with family by his side. Aged 79.

Lawrence was born in Kimberley, BC to George Michael and Daisy Violet (Platt) Schneider on January 2 1944.

Lawrence was a loving father and an active community member.

Growing up with his sister Myrtle Ann in Chapman Camp, spending summers at Moyie, St. Mary’s Lake and skiing in winter, cemented his life long love for Kimberley and area.

Lawrence continued his education in Prince George, becoming a journeyman millwright. He returned home with a trade and a wife, Melissa Minnie (McLean). Cominco recognized his worth and he worked for them, as did his father and grandfather, until his retirement in 2001.

Lawrence and Melissa had six children, Shona-Lynne, Tammy, Mandel, Rene, Jessica and Bart. Sadly, Mandel died in infancy.

Lawrence saw the value of community and dedicated many countless hours to enhance the safety and wellbeing of Kimberley. He served over 40 years with the Chapman Camp and Kimberley Fire Departments, as well as donating his time to the Kimberley Volunteer Ambulance Society and the Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron.

His skills as a carpenter and fine woodworker were admired by many and came in useful as his family grew. His cradles have become treasured pieces for many friends and family alike.

Lawrence loved having his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren around him, preferably in Kimberley. He will be missed by all.

The service will be held July 8th 2023 in Kimberley. Time and location to be confirmed.

He was predeceased by his parents, his son Mandel and granddaughter Aveleen Caldwell.
