Obituary of Edith Trenholm

Please share a memory of Edith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

1915 - 2011

Edith Trenholm passed away on February 13, 2011 at the Kimberley Special Care Home at the age of 95. Edith was predeceased by her husband Donald in 1967, friend Murray Garden in 1993 and sister Gertrude Somolenko, brother Elmer Treble and infant sister Mary Treble.

Edith was born on October 25, 1915 in Watrous, Saskatchewan to Samuel and Bess Treble. She married Donald Trenholm in 1938. Their marriage was a happy union, during which time they raised their two daughters. Unfortunately with Donald's passing at age 52 the happy union only lasted 29 years. Edith's over-riding joy was her family. She was so happy to be involved in family celebrations. Edith was a faithful and devoted member of the Kimberley United Church for 60 plus years. For many years she was President of her UCW group and instrumental in keeping the group together. One of her prized possessions was a lifetime membership pin from the UCW. One of her passions was sewing and she spent many hours sewing for the Hospital Auxiliary group. She also received a lifetime membership in the Hospital Auxiliary. Mom loved people and enjoyed her afternoon coffee time at Gardenview.

Edith will be sadly missed and loving remembered by her daughters Donelda Scott (Jim) and Marilyn Evans (Wayne); grandchildren: Kathy Merkel (Garry) of Kimberley, Kevin Scott (Radona) of Mason, Ohio, Darcy Evans (Phillip Hughes) of Toronto, Ontario and Jan Hargrave (Fred) of Anchorage, Alaska; sister Mildred Thomas of Regina, Saskatchewan; great grandchildren: Kim Kavanagh (Travis Waite), Michael Kavanagh of Kimberley, Baylee, Chloe and Gavin Scott of Mason, Ohio, Madelaine and Will Hargrave of Anchorage, Alaska; great grandchildren: Jayden and Kiera Gould, Jewel Kavanagh, Wyatt Fisher all of Kimberley; her extended great and great great grandchildren Dylan (Tera) Merkel, Riley Merkel and Shayna Waite.

A special thanks to the staff at Gardenview and the Kimberley Special Care Home for their care and compassion extended to our mom and the family.

A celebration of Edith's life will be held on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Kimberley United Church (10 - Boundary Street, Kimberley, British Columbia, V1A 3C8). Donations may be made in Edith's honour to the Kimberley United Church Mission and Service at the church address above.
