Ken you will be missed sooo much by everyone who knew you. From that infectious smile to those sparking blue eyes. I have so many wonderful memories from all the years you have been in our lives. The many visits back and forth from Vancouver to Calgary with our families, all the camping trips in Kelowna, Merritt and Sandy Point. Watching you trying to keep up to your brothers, and you did indeed master water skiing! Later on Lori joined us, becoming part of the family. I recall one particular day in Kelowna you seemed to have disappeared from the campground, we all looked high and low for you, Lori finally found you having a little nap under the picnic table.
Your teen years when you came and stayed with us in Calgary for a while. You were like the son uncle Bill and I never had. I hope I told you how much we enjoyed having you stay with us. Our house was full of music every day. I don't believe I ever saw you without a smile on your face. I just know you and uncle Bill are playing and singing again. We will all miss you so much.
Another angel has gotten his wings, sore high Ken, sore high.
All my love to Lori, Kris, Cody, Kate and Declan. May all the wonderful memories take you through this difficult time until the sun shines again.

Ken was a pleasure to have as an employee for SD#5. He was always dependable, did a fantastic job keeping the school clean, and most of all was just a pleasure to be around.
He was a real genuine and sincere person. Talking with him was always very easy and comfortable, as I'm sure everyone who knew him would say.
It was always great seeing him roll in on his old motor bike to work. You could see the enjoyment he got out of it.
His positive energy and presence will be missed at Mount Baker, as well as throughout the district with whoever he met along the way.

I had the pleasure of working with Ken many years ago when he was roofing in Kelowna. The days could be hot and long, but working with Ken helped the time pass. Unfortunately I lost touch with Ken, but I always look back on the time we worked together with a smile. He was a 12/12 kind of guy and I was lucky to know him. Randy Werger

I knew Ken from high school . Over the years we had lost touch , until he started dating my best friend Lori . He was such a nice kind guy. He was funny too ! He made Lori laugh . As Lori’s friend she sure picked a great guy. I used to tease Ken all the time about walking past a mirror ! I would catch him everytime checking himself out ! LOL

I would like to think I got my great taste in music because of Uncle Ken (sorry Dad!). One of my early childhood memories is when I was about 5 years old visiting Uncle Ken, Aunty Lori, Kris and Cody in the heat of summer in Kelowna. I was so enthralled by my cousins antics and the long sunny days, and I remember there was always great music playing in their house. This one moment in particular, Uncle Ken had “House of the Rising Sun” blasting through the speakers, as 6 year old cousin Kris proudly stood on top of the deep freeze and jumped through the air, flying onto the 80’s patterned couch, and as we laughed the melody and chords of that song became permanently ingrained in my memory and always reminded me of Uncle Ken!
While gone to soon, after reading the family’s tribute, I couldn’t help but feel peace with the idea that he will be forever playing music and enjoying a cold one.
May memories of his easy laughter fill all our hearts and may the “brothers-in-law” fishing stories continue to live on ❤️

I had the pleasure of working with Ken for the last two years at Mt. Baker. Ken was a very kind and quiet man, and always had a big smile when you'd see him. My day usually finished when he came on shift so we'd exchange a few words and wish each other a good evening. He is dearly missed and there is definitely a void in the school without him. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Ken has been such a warm and friendly person to work for. He brought to work a positive energy, always greeting everyone with a smile. He has a been a good sport with me over the years, helping with my odd art student requests and participating when I have asked him to take part in staff jokes and fun. I am deeply saddened that such a kind, caring man was taken so young. I miss him. My heart goes out to his family. He was a great man.

When I think back on my memories of Uncle Ken they are so happy and positive. He was always having fun and enjoyed being with his family. I remember the laughter and music that filled the house when our dads were together. I'm so thankful for the time I spent with him from all the way back in the family townhouse in Kelowna where we played with our cousins as kids, to Surrey, Cranbrook and again in Kelowna with our visits in the last few months. And of course camping together at Shuswap. When he reflected on his life it was the trips he took, time he spent with his family and his love for them that stood out the most to me.
Aunty Lori, Kris, Cody, Kate and Declan, we are so sorry for your loss.

Ken and I worked together at Mount Baker. He was my "go -to" person whenever I locked myself out of my classroom, couldn't find my keys, had to move desks, required a tool, or just needed a smile to get me through my evening lesson planning. Ken would greet me in the hallway with "See you later?" - and it gave me great comfort knowing I had this gentle, caring man working in the Baker hallways as I prepared for the next teaching day. I will miss him terribly. My thoughts, prayers and love go out to his family and friends.

I worked with Ken at MBSS. I always enjoyed our conversations and his kind personality. In particular I would seek him out on Mondays to talk about the weekend of football games, making sure not to talk scores just in case he had recorded it, and was planning to watch it later. I am not the biggest Seattle Seahawks fan, but I will definitely be hoping they play well for Ken this upcoming season.

Ken was so quiet and soft-spoken, in the whirlwind that is Mount Baker… it was not easy to get to know him.
But he got stuff done. Discreetly, efficiently, stuff got done. We would chat a little about riding our motorcycles. I could tell from his cool friendship with Raelene that I was missing out on some fun times… Having missed those fun times, I find myself at a loss to express how special it felt to have Ken around to take care of things.
He had a kind and patient manner, a great asset when you’re trying to maintain a building trampled by 900 teenagers and 80 adults in various states of emotional health.
I miss him dearly.

Ken had a way of greeting you, either in person or on the phone, that made you feel very welcomed, with his big smile, warmth and genuine enthusiasm. He seemed to like everyone....even my Dad! I loved listening to Ken's stories about his life experiences, especially his funny sleepwalking misadventures.
Fishing and camping were always topics that we all could spend hours talking about. We were fortunate to be able to meet up for a few great fishing trips....even if we got lost the first night and had to be rescued the next day by Ken and Lori.
One of my best memories was a trip to Disneyland with our families. Ken and Alan getting tipsy at the Medieval Times, learning about the Los Angeles salute from our tour guide....the kids loved that one!
Alan and I are going to miss you, Ken.
Lori, Kris and Cody my heart is breaking for you with the loss of a such a wonderful Husband and Father. I pray that your special memories of Ken will give you comfort and strength.

Ken became one of my closest friends at Mount Baker. I am heartbroken. He became a constant fixture in the music room and was a welcome and inspiring presence for everyone. Whether he was helping a student wrap their microphone cable a little better, or, when we were rehearsing, he seemed to sweep the floor a bit longer than necessary, Ken was always so generous with his time. I will dearly miss our after work chats where we would discuss and dissect our favourite bands. Ken made a massive impression on all of us and he will be missed very dearly.

I will always smile when I think of Ken. He worked hard every single day, smiled always and NEVER complained. He would greet my kids daily (triplet boys and my daughter) with a giant smile and a welcome. They would hurricane through the building (which was usually already cleaned) and he would re-tidy things and smile and laugh...I will miss seeing Ken and his ghetto blaster (actual big radio on the cart) chuckling at me because I would suggest daily that he use an ipod and earbuds. There are not enough words to say how much his giant heart and great work ethic will be missed

On many occasions when I would stop in the school on summer, winter or spring breaks (as I would forget to finish something up in my office or drop something off), he would give me a hard time and chuckle as to how many more times I will show up again throughout the break! As my work day was ending and his was beginning, he would always make a point to tell me to have a wonderful evening and to enjoy it! Ken, your kind heart and selflessness and smile will truly be missed by not only us at Mount Baker, but by all that had the previlage of knowing you! Some of the best memories I have of Uncle Ken were at our Loehndorf family reunions. It was a chance to see all my aunties and uncles and bond with my cousins. Uncle Ken was a gentle soul, always smiling, laughing and at ease. He always shared one memory with me that he told me he laughed about when he saw me.
When we were little, Kris, Cody, Terri and I all took turns driving a race cart they had. When I took my turn, I went a little too fast and out of control and hit one of their small trees down. Uncle Ken laughed so hard, you couldn't help but do the same. As I write this, I smile because I see his infectious smile. I will always cherish that memory and I'm grateful that he has been a part of our big family for so long. Grateful that each one of us was able to experience what a wonderful soul he was.
Uncle Ken bravely faced his battle and remained high in spirit throughout. He was remarkable in both strength and courage until God called him Home.
On behalf of my husband Ron and I, we extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to Auntie Lori, Kris, Cody, Kate and Declan. Our hearts are with you all. We love you and will always be here for you. xoxo

When I think back or look back at pictures, what I remember most about Ken is his gentleness and his sense of humor. At times his antics have given us a few laughs, and those times will continue to bring a smile and fond memories. Our families used to all get together at mom’s and dad’s every Saturday. Dad entertaining the little ones on the tractor and the guys hanging out and enjoying each other’s company while mom and us girls played Yahtzee and shared laughs. Great family bonding time.
I will always remember our families camping at Shuswap lake when the kids were young.
One trip I won’t forget was camping with just Ken and his 2 boys and our 2 girls. The kids must have been about 5 and 7 years old? We were camping for a few days up at Alice lake. It was agreed ahead of time, that Ken would stay at camp with the 4 kids overnight by himself as Monty and I had a special event to attend. We would rejoin them in the morning. Well, wouldn’t you know it, there was a huge lightning storm that night. We were in Vancouver at the time and while it was clear above us, all around the mountains (where Ken and kids were) it was non-stop lightning! Boy, I still feel guilty about that. Sorry Ken.
I will miss you but you will be in my heart forever.

I had the pleasure of working with Ken at MBSS. Ken was the kindest, most gentle, soft spoken and hardworking man I have had the pleasure of working with. Ken and I bonded over food, sharing fancy smoked oysters (don't tell Lori), cheese, mushrooms (morels) and homemade sausages. We would chat about smokers and processing food (my husband produced our goods; I was just the transporter of the goods). Ken was passionate about the music program; he would always watch and encourage the students quietly in the evenings. There was a cool factor to him, that gave him street credibility, at the high school when he pulled up on his sweet motorbike. We would also talk about our dogs, he loved his animals. One time he saw my daughter and I at the dog park and popped over for a visit. A friend and colleague, Ken will be missed. Sending love to Lori and his family. Viveka and Gerrud

Although Ken has left us, his spirit is still within all our hearts. He will never be forgotten! Truly, it was my honor and privilege to have been Ken’s Brother In Law. Ken, has and always will be, an integral part of our large family. I would like to extend my deepest prayers, condolences, and sympathy to Lori, Kris and Cody, on the loss of a dear and loving husband and father. Personally, I have known Ken for over 40 years. We shared a lot of good times, and built a lot of memories over the years. Ken was hard not to notice, with his infectious laugh and happy carefree spirit. From the first time you met Ken, you would feel an instant connection….that’s just how he made you feel. Ken always seemed to exude this “easy peaceful feeling” about him…..just part of who he was, I suppose. We shared many a good times at family dinners and reunions over the years, and built more memories. For all of us it was a chance to engage, reflect, shake hands, hug, and reconnect our family bonds. Ken, your legacy will live on through your family, who knew and loved you. “ Happy Trails To You, Until We Meet Again”. Love, Brother In Law, Dave

Camping and fishing. Back in the day, pretty much every year involved a camping trip to Shuswap Lake with anyone who could make it. Campfires, guitars, beers and lots of laughing. Then, pretty much every September long weekend, us brother-in-laws (the outlaws) would find a special lake and enjoy more of the good times. I remember waking up one morning, bleary-eyed and heading out with Ken on his boat. He pulled out his little cooler and proceeded to line up some salt, pepper, tabasco, tomato juice, a glass, and a Rainier beer (cue the motorcycle sound). I remember I had apparently finished all the beer I had brought on that trip.
So, there I was, croaking out a plea, asking Ken if there might be any way that he might consider selling me a glass of that magic potion. He smiled, laughed that awesome laugh of his, and told me not to worry about it. Out came another glass that he had brought just for me, as he had correctly guessed how I might be feeling. I loved Ken immensely, as we all did and do, but never more so than that day. :-) There were many camping trips and many fishing trips and mostly what happened at the lake stayed at the lake. But, man, are there some hilarious stories. Like the time I put my elbow through his camper window. Or the time we pitched the Loehndorf Hilton at night and woke up to rain and our tent was in a creek bed. And snapping up a monster tarp over a raging fire in a rainstorm to then sing songs with Mama Cash. More tales to tell when we are all next together. And, one day, Ken, I'll see you again on a lake in paradise and we can raise a glass and head out fishing. Until then, I miss you and love you lots, we all do. Gotta love this photo from over 30 years ago. Cheers, bro!
