Obituary of Edgar George Cunliffe
Please share a memory of Edgar to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edgar George Cunliffe, 85, on July 12, 2023 in Cranbrook and the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
Ed was born on September 11, 1937 in Fernie, BC and grew up on the family farm in Galloway. He attended school in Galloway and Jaffray, where he has many friends to this day. Ed began his working career at the Galloway Mill; then, in 1957 he went to work for the B.C. Forest Service, beginning a successful 35-year career in forestry, retiring in 1992.
Ed and Lorraine were happiest on the farm, first in Slocan Park, and then later in Yahk. They enjoyed their dogs, large gardens, horses, chickens, peacocks, guinea fowl, doves, and budgies. The coffee was always “on”, and they greatly enjoyed visits from friends and family. Some of Ed’s other favorite activities were hunting, fishing, and “doing the books”.
Ed was predeceased by Lorraine Cunliffe, his wife of 29 years. He is survived by his sister Helen (Bill), his sons Barry (Tammy) and Blaine (Shauni), his stepchildren Dennis (Suzie), Illona (Danny), and Terri-Lynn (Colin) as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will all miss him very much.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honour of both Ed and Lorraine, at a future date, to be determined by the family.
