Obituary of Kenneth Harold Smith

October 25, 1946 - March 3, 2011

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Ken's sudden passing at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta after a brief illness.

Ken was born in Nelson, British Columbia. He married Pearl August 30, 1969 in Cranbrook, where they started to raise their family. As a mechanic he spent several years self-employed, worked for Tembec and of late Maple Leaf Forestry. Ken was an avid golfer being a member of the Kimberley Golf Club. He loved fishing and the boat rides down the St. Mary's River with his buddies.

Survived by his loving wife Pearl, his children Brent (Crystal), Dean (Anita) and Shelley (Kris); grandchildren Ryan, Alex, Tori, Marshall and Mitchell; step-grandkids; his brother Robert (Laurie) and sister Jean Anderson (Ken). Ken was predeceased by his father Gordon, mother Bonnie and sister Peg.

A devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, Ken was always generous with his time and energy to anyone who needed him. His kind fun loving nature will be deeply missed by his family, friends, workmates and golf buddies.

Upon Ken's request, there will be no service. A Celebration of Ken's life will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Kimberley Junior Golf Program or a charity of your choice.
