Obituary of Albert Kutzner

Please share a memory of Albert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of Albert Kutzner announce his passing on Oct 1, 2023, at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. Al was born October 20, 1939, in Beristowitz, Ukraine. He came to Canada in 1953 immigrating to Winnipeg with his father and two sisters. Al finished his pipefitter apprenticeship with CPR, then moved to Vancouver where he met Regine. Al and Regine married in 1962 and moved to Cranbrook six years later to open a steel construction business called Long Valley Steel Ltd. Al was very proud of the many buildings in Cranbrook which he worked on, including the clock tower, CIBC, Safeway, several schools, office buildings and the police station. Providing for his family was always his priority. He was a hard worker but always found time to support the kids sports activities especially Cranbrook Minor Hockey by coaching, driving them to different events and sponsorship. Al loved spending time in his yard and garden, making wine and horseradish, but most of all spending time with his family.

Al is survived by his loving wife Regine, children, Mike (Lisa) Kutzner, Andrea (Blaise) Manning, Carina Vachon, Dan (Marni) Kutzner and daughter in law Irene. Loving grandchildren Paula, Connor, Alix, Jackson, Carter, Ty, Shane, Wyatt, Nicole, Jared, Kamryn, Kohen. Great-Grandchildren Maya, Crew, Lucas, Zayn. Sisters Adele and Irma as well as many extended family members.

Al is predeceased by their son René, Parents Theodor and Kadia Kutzner.

A Public Gathering to Honour Al will take place Saturday Oct 7, 2023, at 2pm at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook. Al will be interred in a private family ceremony at the Fort Steele Cemetery.
