Please share a memory of Erin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Erin Frances Messer announces her passing on October 29, 2023, at the age of 85. Erin was predeceased by her parents Glenn and Inez Moore and her closest friend, Carol Leask.

"Erin is survived by her loving husband, Ken Willey, her brother, Don Moore (Kathy), and her children, Kevin (Ardith), Scott (Marcie), and Terri (Ezio). She also leaves behind grandchildren Colton, Tyler, Kalli, Dylan, Logan, Ryliegh, and Connor, and great-grandson Everett. Erin is remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends, including Carol, Annie, and Monique, just to name a few."

Erin was a remarkable soul whose presence touched the lives of many. Her sense of humor was infectious, making her the life of the party wherever she went. She had a strong presence of life and an enduring love for baking that filled our homes with warmth and delicious treats. Erin was a master storyteller, captivating audiences with her tales and jokes. She had an unwavering passion for music and enjoyed playing cards, especially a good game of crib.

Helping others was at the core of Erin's being. Everyone around her was blessed with her kindness and generosity. She had an uncanny ability to make friends wherever she traveled, and these friendships often blossomed into long-lasting connections from all corners of the globe. She was an avid traveler, from trekking the rugged 'West Coast Trail' on Vancouver Island to the dizzying heights of Nepal's 'Annapurna Circuit,' leaving an indelible mark of grit and determination in her wake.

Erin's nursing legacy started at St. Boniface Hospital as a dedicated nurse, touching the lives of thousands throughout her career. Her global reach extended beyond her profession as she savored a sip of wine in Iceland to Australia, Scotland to Italy, and many places in between. Along the way, she hiked and reveled in the beauty of the great outdoors, and the trails will forever miss her spontaneous greetings.

The family wants to express its deepest gratitude and thanks to Sharon Gurr for her unwavering kindness and support through Mom’s final days. Mom’s journey on this Earth was a testament to a life well-lived, brimming with love, laughter, and an unquenchable thirst for adventure. As we bid farewell, we take solace in the thought that, as the saying goes: "If tears could build a stairway, and memories were a lane, we would walk right up to heaven, and bring you home again." Mom, your light will forever shine in our hearts.

A heartfelt celebration of life will take place in June 2024 at McPherson's Funeral Home in Cranbrook, BC, followed by a warm and cherished gathering around the fire for a wiener roast. In lieu of floral tributes, the family kindly requests that donations be directed to the BC Cancer Foundation, which can be made at www.becancerfoundation.com.
