Obituary of Thora Jensen Nielsen

Thora Jensen Nielsen (née Vester) was born on February 25^th, 1929 on the island of Fur, in Denmark. She emigrated to Canada with her husband John in 1953, eventually settling down in the Kimberley area in 1968. Mom was well known for her excellent coffee and home-baked fresh bread. Mom was a strong and hard-working woman who wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty, splitting firewood and cross-country skiing with her dog well into her late 80’s. She will be remembered fondly and missed by all those who had the pleasure to know her.

Thora is survived by her sons John (Valerie), Bruce (Pamela) and daughter Kathy (Dan) as well as eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband John in 2003 as well as her parents and seven siblings.

A private family gathering in Thora’s memory will be held in the summer of 2024.
