Obituary of Sharon Anne Rakebrand

Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharon after a short but brave battle with cancer on January 15, 2024.

Sharon was born January 30, 1954 in Kimberley. In 1972, she moved to Victoria to study to become an RN at St. Joseph's School of Nursing. It is here where she met her future husband Henry, a sailor stationed at Esquimalt. In 1981, Sharon returned to Kimberley to work at the Kimberley Hospital, and later EKRH, where she worked in many departments. She was a dedicated RN and union activist until her retirement in 2019.

Sharon loved oil painting, her cats, her boys, Ripley and Ryder, and she was a passionate shopper. She was always eager to discuss world affairs, forensics, court cases, and the latest news. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her niece Robyn and her son Rowan. She leaves behind her daughter Denise (Aaron) in Kimberley, her son Jeff and his partner in Ottawa, her sister Charleen (Rae) in Edmonton, her brothers Gerry (Lynn) and Kevin (Trudy) in Kimberley, and her numerous nieces and nephews and her best friend Lynden (Steve).

She was predeceased by her husband Henry and her parents Simon and Mary Fitzpatrick.

Sharon has been reunited with her gentle giant Henry at last.

At Sharon's request there will be no service but a casual gathering of family and friends in the late spring, time and date to be announced.
