Obituary of Shane Micheal Smitna

We are incredibly saddened to announce the sudden death of Shane Micheal Smitna on January 4^th, 2024. Shane was born on April 12, 1975 in Fernie B.C. and moved to Cranbrook at a young age.

He was born with a kind and loving soul, a heart of gold and a smile for everyone he met. He was a true lover of the outdoors and was at his most content when he could camp amongst the trees, near a river or a lake.

His second passion was cooking, and he was at his happiest when he could make a meal for his family and friends. He believed that food nourished the soul as well as the body.

He was brave in the face of adversity and faced his challenges head on. He lived his life to the fullest. May he find peace and honour in the realms of the gods.

He leaves behind to mourn his heartbroken parents, Steve and Shannon, his brother Scott, his wife Crystal, his many, many friends, as well as his aunts, uncles and cousins, and of course his beloved pups.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
