While disappointed to not be able to attend in person, I was glad to join through the Livestream. The service was beautiful. It was especially nice to see and hear Leanne and Greg speak. Joy was a delight to know and I'm sure Dorial would have said she was too. I am sorry for your loss and can hope that Joy and Dorial are catching up on the latest news and chatting about all their travels.I send you PEACE.

Joy was my mom's close friend and I've known her since childhood. She was always supportive, kind, and hilarious. And I found out I enjoyed talking to her as an adult. I will miss her listening ear and laughter at my jokes. Thanks God for her life. Peace to Russ, Leanne, Greg, and family.

I worked with Joy at Steeples School for a few years. She was always so cheerful and took an interest in her colleagues and their families. Joy was involved in all aspects of school life and was keen to support extracurricular activities like concerts. I particularly enjoyed availing myself of the regular supply of her delicious baking! Our deepest condolences to Joy's family.

Joy was always the ultimate host. I remember many times we stayed at Russ and Joy's and they could never be more gracious. Joy's cooking was second to none. She always made you so welcome and never wanted you to leave. She will be sadly missed.

I remember so fondly Joy as we exchanged remarks in the halls of the school.....many of them hilarious. She was a wonderful person as well as an understanding and caring teacher. But Joy brought a special kind of humour to many conversations that took place in the staff room. I send my condolences to Russ, Leanne and Greg. My thoughts will be with you and I will think often of Joy as a colleague and a friend.

Joy brought her unique kind of ‘joy’ to everyone she encountered. I was honoured to work with Joy for several years and loved our
Friday afternoon get togethers after we were all retired. Joy was a friend to everyone and special to all. We will miss you, Joy!

I met Joy in 1984 when we moved from Vernon to Cranbrook. I belonged to Sorority in Vernon and so I went to a meeting in Cranbrook with the only person I knew in Cranbrook, Joanne Richardson, she introduced me to all the awesome ladies that were in her chapter. One of those awesome ladies was Joy Colombo.
Subsequently our husbands met also at functions and hit it off. Thus the friendship grew. We did a few trips together, to Los Cabo in Mexico, the Washington Coast and we visited the Maritimes where Doug’s family are on Cape Breton Island. We had so much fun on those trips.
Since we moved from Cranbrook we have kept in touch and were fortunate to be able to attend their 50 th wedding anniversary. So nice to meet Joy and Russ’ family that we had just heard about.
Loved all the stories she would tell about growing up in the cariboo. We are able to relate a bit more of life in the Willam’s Lake area, as our daughter, Carrie and her husband Jeff Knox and 2 Grandaughters have been living there for 25 years. Joy still has many nephews and nieces living in the area.
Joy had so many memories related about her kidlets at school it was so fun to hear her speak of them.
I really enjoyed getting recipes from Joy, there are a few that every time I use them especially her bread recipe, which she knew off by heart, but initially it came from the same book that I had used so I think of her every couple of weeks when I make bread. She definitely was an amazing cook and baker and friend to many that she would deliver a cake too whether it was your birthday or you just weren’t feeling well. We could not see each other for a year but it was like we had never been apart when we did have a visit.
I have a couple of her quilt creations that I was gifted, so another time she is on my mind.
Such a loss to us all and such a genuine friend, I’ll miss you ❤️

Joy, I will miss your sense of humour and the teasing back and forth. Golfing with you was more social than golf which made it so much fun. When, we girls, met on Fridays you always had a "cute" joke to share. I will miss your smile and the twinkle in your eyes.
