Obituary of Alec William Manjak

Alec William Manjak, 92, of Cranbrook BC, passed away on March 21, 2024, at the Cranbrook Regional Hospital.
Born on January 12, 1932, to Wasyl and Anna Myndzak in Notch Hill, BC., Al had three (3) brothers, Carl (deceased), Rudy (deceased) and is survived by his youngest brother, Johnny. Al is predeceased by his first wife, Gladys and is survived by his three children, Scott (Raeleen), Val (Don), and Kelly, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Al is also survived by his second wife, Joan and her children, Mark (Kathryn), Derek (Paula), Laura (Laroy), and David (Julie) Zimmerman along with numerous grandchildren. Al and Joan were married in 2007 and spent their time enjoying many activities, such as golfing, curling, visiting their friends, and traveling.
His career began in the 1950’s in the pulp and paper manufacturing industry. Over the span of his career, Al spent time in Ocean Falls, BC, Castlegar, BC, Thunder Bay, ON, and his service career culminated at the Skookumchuk Mill in Skookumchuk, BC. Al took great pride working in this industry and made many life-long friendships along the way.
Al served for many years as part of the Cranbrook Lions Club. This was always one of Al’s favourite activities.
Al spent the last few weeks of his life in the Cranbrook Regional Hospital where he received kind and passionate care. The family wishes to thank his doctors and his care providers.
Al expressed to his family that he did not wish to have a funeral service. A small family interment will take place over the next few days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Cranbrook Lions Club.
