Obituary of Elena Marie Lizee

It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of Elena Marie Lizee(Martin). After a short but tiring battle with Cancer Elena passed on April 24th, 2024, at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.  

  Elena was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on September 19th, 1973, to Leon and Carolee Lizee. She was the third born of 4 kids to Leon and Carolee.  

 In her early teens, she attended school in Manitoba, where her family had relocated to. At the age of 14 Elena met the Love of her life, Shawn Martin. After dating for a few years and a move to Kimberley BC, they welcomed their Daughter Amber Rae. Elena and Shawn tried hard to make it work as young parents, sadly though that was not the path God had intended for them at that time. Elena moved back home for some time and then moved out on her own again. When Amber was 5, Elena gave birth to her second daughter Jasmine, and then 2 years later she gave birth to her third and final child, a son named David.  

Elenas children were her pride and joy, they were her life. She also had a natural talent for a green thumb that helped with her career, but her true passion was music! And her love for music is something she passed down to her children and grandchildren.  

 In July 2023, Elena received her cancer diagnosis. After a few months of feeling alone, chemotherapy, and many trips back and forth from Fairmont to Cranbrook God gave her a wonderful gift. Mid-October 2023, God gave her Shawn back. After 34 years apart, Elena and Shawn rekindled their epic love. All those close to Elena had never seen her happier or more her true self. Once together again Shawn stayed by her side until the end.  

 Elena is survived by her True Husband Shawn, her parents, 2 brothers and her children; Amber (Karissa), Jasmine (Gordon) and David. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Matthew, Alexia, Katarina, Isabella, Linda, Anderson, Aurora and Talyliah. Along with her sister-person. 

 Elena was pre-deceased by her sister Tammy Lizee and her nephew Chance Lizee, as well as both her maternal and paternal grandparents.  

 A Celebration of Life will be held at Horseshoe Lake in Fort Steele BC, on the weekend of July 26th- July 28th. All those who knew her at any point in her life are welcome to join her family for stories, camping and smores.
