Obituary of Lloyd Russell Dean
Please share a memory of Lloyd to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lloyd Russell Dean 77, passed as he lived his life, on his own terms. He was very content and busy in his art filled Cranbrook, BC home with his sweet canine companion Dixie. Lloyd moved to BC from birthplace Regina, Saskatchewan (remaining true to his Roughriders) following the death of his wife, Patsy.
There was no task Lloyd couldn’t learn, study and master, the more challenging, the more interested and determined he became. Lloyd’s meticulous home and precision multidisciplinary art talents were evidence of his attention to fine detail and pride in workmanship. His artistic list is long and includes; guitar building and instruction, woodwork, hand tied fishing flies, painting in oils, acrylic and airbrushing, hand-built knife design and construction, home renovation and landscaping, to name a few. Lloyd remained humble though he accomplished more than most of us.
Not only could Lloyd repair and restore anything, he creatively repurposed unique items, determined to give new life and purpose to old abandoned objects. A lifetime filled with several diverse careers benefitted from his high standards and strong work ethic. Yet, Lloyd took time to enjoy fishing and relaxing lakeside with kind and loving friends. He could always be counted on. We will deeply miss our dear and good friend.
